FAQs
-
How do I choose the right size?Your KOWs are made entirely of yarn which is a flexible material. That is why KOW slippers can accommodate two regular shoesizes. When in doubt or when you have a half size, it is best to choose the smaller size. For example, if you are a size 39.5 we recommend you take the 38-39 size. The yarn will stretch and shape to your feet, which it cannot do if the slipper is too big.
-
I don’t really suffer from cold feet, won’t they be too warm and sweaty?"Nope. Your KOW slippers are made from quality yarns with 50% merino and/or Lopi wool. Just like the wool on sheep, our slippers will keep you warm when it’s cold and cool when it is warm. This is thermoregulation, a unique property of wool.
-
Can I use them outside?KOW slippers are made for indoor use. We added a leather sole to protect the slippers from wear and tear and to keep you safe on smooth surfaces. But if you need to take out the trash on your KOWs, go for it! If you have to walk the dog, we humbly recommend you slip into your shoes.
-
What if I’m allergic to wool?Natural fibres such as wool rarely lead to contact-allergies. But on sensitive skins these fibres can cause itching or irritation. Generally, the better the quality of the wool, the least risk of irritation. And we’ve got some great quality yarns in our slippers!
-
How do I wash my KOWs?You can machine wash your KOW slippers occasionally using a cool wool programme. But you’ll find that because of the wool’s breathability, the slippers will remain quite odour-free.
-
What’s with the shape of the soles? The shape of the soles follow the shape of your foot: just like the arches of your feet won’t touch the ground, neither will your KOW slippers. Putting on a full-covering sole would have limited the stretching properties of the yarn. We want the slippers to shape to your feet instead of forcing your feet to fit the shape of the footwear.

-
Where are they made? All slippers are handmade in the Kingdom of Wonder: Cambodia. We have our own workshop in Siem Reap to be precise, just a stone’s throw away from the amazing temples of Angkor.
-
What’s with the name?KOW stands for Kingdom of Wonder, the name by which Cambodia also goes. And of course the pronunciation will immediately bring to mind images of those gorgeous black and white Dutch dairy cows! KOW Brand is owned by a Dutch company.

What’s your commitment to fairtrade and sustainability?Glad you asked! Because we don’t just want to make the most comfortable indoor footwear and help you relax, we also want to do it in a responsible way. Fair, safe and healthy working conditions are top priority for us. That is why we operate our own production facility: because keeping track of your supply chain and monitoring your suppliers is probably one of the biggest challenges for conscious brands. Keeping manufacturing in-house means we don’t just check and monitor, we directly decide: the wages paid, the working environment, the insurances and benefits and much more. We source and produce with the aim to leave a minimal footprint on this planet. A big goal for a small company, but we make our choices in careful consideration of the impact we have on this planet.
